- Booking amount is between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000
After having successful models such as MT-15 and R15V4 doing good in Indian market, Yamaha has decided to expand its portfolio with introducing bigger capacity motorcycles in India. In line with this expansion, Yamaha recently showcased their 700cc twins Mt-07 and YZF R7 to select dealers in India.
The bigger capacity siblings of Mt-15 and R15V4 are surely a good introduction by Yamaha into Indian market. After having a huge void for years between quarter liter and 1000cc engine options MT-07 and YZF R7 will bridge this gap efficiently. As it is the case worldwide, R7’s predecessor Yamaha R6 has huge fan following in India too.

The select few dealers have already started taking unofficial bookings for NT-07 and YZF R7. The booking amounts are between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000. At these amounts we can expect good number of bookings. The launch for both these bike is expected to be in second half of 2023. Only time will tell how these bikes will compete in this engine capacity segment as there many options in this segment with wide range of Pricing, engine configuration, performance and utility.

Both these bike, Mt-07 and YZf R7, are powered by a 689cc engine having twin cylinder configuration. The engine puts out a decent 73bhp at 8,750 rpm and 67Nm torque at 6,500rpm.Though both the bikes share engine and other mechanical components, they differ significantly in their use and design. Mt-07 is a well balanced street fighter whereas R7 is a true faired sports bike which will surely be many riders’ choice for a good trackday.
Yamaha is introducing 700CC engine and both these bikes fairly late in Indian market. We already have many options Kawasaki Ninja 650, Z650, Honda CBR650R, Triumph Daytona, Aprilia RS660 amongst others but the advantage Yamaha has is the legendary fan following for R6 and now R7 and the fact that both MT-07 and R7 are proven products in their respective category.
